Quick Work of Dryer Fire

At 00:04 hours this morning the Smithtown Fire Department was activated for a reported dryer fire on Brooksite Drive. Upon arrival of Chief Fitzpatrick (4-2-30), Chief Diecidue (4-2-31) and Chief Duckham (4-2-32) a smoke condition was discovered and as crews searched the basement located a dryer on fire. The crew from Engine 4-2-5 was the first due engine and stretched an 1-3/4" handline to the basement and extinguished the flames. Additional arriving apparatus searched the structure, secured utilities and ventilated the smoke. St. James FD provided stand by coverage for the district. All units operated under the command of Chief of Department Kevin Fitzpatrick until 01:04 hours.
